Maiktoli Trek

To the west of the Pindari Glacier, situated on the southern slope of the Sunderdhunga Khal, is the 5 km long Maiktoli Glacier. This glacier forms the source of the river flowing on the steep slope for about 25 km before joining the Pindar river at Dhakuri meadows.
The west of Maiktoli Glacier, is the Mrigthuni Glacier situated on the southern slope of the Mrigthuni, Devtoli peaks. It is a 6 km long flow towards the S-E direction of the valley, with the snout opening at an elevation of 4000 m and as a stream, meeting the Sunderdhunga river at Sunderdhunga (3206 km) after a trek of 8 km towards Khati village up to Jaitoli and a bridle path along the western side of the Sunderdhunga, one reaches at a point from where the Maiktoli and the Mrigthuni Glacier becomes approachable.
Maiktoli Trek Itinerary
Day 1.Rishieksh - Kathgodam
Early in the morning drive to Kathgodam. Arrival at Kathgodam by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2.Kathgodam - Base Camp Loharkhet (5320 Ft.)
After breakfast, enter Himalayan range by bus and reach base camp Loharkhet via Almora.Bageshwar and Saung.
Day 3. Loharkhet - Dhakuri (8900 Ft.9K.M.)
Trek commences from Loharkhet village to next destination Dhakuri Top(2680 mtrs.) under the majestic Kumaon Himalayas. Overnight stay in KMVN Rest house or tent at Dhakuri.
Day 4. Dhakuri- Khati (7350 Ft. 7 K.M.)
The trek to Khati descends down and can comfortably be accomplished. From Khati snow-capped peaks of Mighty Himalayan Range are distinctly visible. Khati is the biggest village enroute Pindari.
Day 5 .Khati - Jaitoli.(8100 Ft. 8 K.M.)
From Khati follow pinder river unto Warbham - the meeting place of Pinder River and Sunderdhunga stream. Now along Sunderdhunga stream, reach Jaitoli crossing boulders and steep ascent. Overnight stay in tent.
Day 6. Jatoli - Dhungia Dhaun (9100 Ft. 8 K.M.)
The trek is through thick alpine forest for more than half the journey and today's trek will be quite tough.
Day 7. Dhungia Dhaun - Kathalia (10650 Ft. 7 K.M.)
Today it is quite easy walk to reach our top camp Kathalia.On the way one gets panoramic view of Himalayan range.We stay here for two nights in tents or huts.
Day 8. Kathalia-o Maiktoli and back.(14480 Ft .8 K.M.)
After breakfast early in the morning, we start a trek to Maiktoli Top. Maiktoli top (4230 mtrs.) is a steep climb and when you reach there you will feel that you have touched the peak. You get magnificent view of Maiktoli,Nanda khat and Trishul. The day is memorable for all those who are in love with nature and its pristine glory. We have to come back to Kathalia for night halt.
Day 9. Kathalia - Jaitoli (8100 Ft. 15 K.M.)
As the trek descends down from Kathalia to Jaitoli one can complete this task easily even if walking slowly and enjoying every moment of beautifully enriched scenic pulchritude of Sunderdhunga valley.
Day 10. Jaitoli - Dhakuri (8900 Ft. 15 K.M.)
Today again we have to ascend and return to beautiful campsite Dhakuri and relax.
Day 11. Dhakuri to Loharkhet - (9 K.M.)
Reach Loharkhet by afternoon and transfer to Bageshwar in hotel by bus/geep.
Day 12.Bageshwar to Rishikesh
Early in the morning drive to Rishikesh.Trep End.
